DICKENS'S WORKS - LONDON CHAPMAN & HALL: 1889
Please forgive me for what I am about to do.... I have very limited knowledge when it comes to books, and had no luck finding info on these books.
Today I swung by an estate sale...the guy was a wood worker, aside from some real nice pieces of imported wood, I came across a little book area. He had the entire set of these Charles Dickens books, and perhaps some others. The condition i assume to be fair. I grabbed a few familiar names...$2.00 a book. They are part of the "WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS. ILLUSTRATED LIBRARY EDITION."
I assume these were printed in 1889 it says: "REPRINTED FROM STEREOTYPE PLATES, FEBRUARY 1889."
Some other information I see: "Richard Clay and Sons Limited, London & Bungay." "ILLUSTRATED BY H.K BROWNE." They are leather bound.
I know these are probably not worth much but I would rather not take a chance. Does anyone know if these are collectible and/or are they of value? If so I will make sure I am the first one back to the sale tomorrow at 8 AM. So grateful to the CW community. Thank you!
